A player carpenting.

Carpenter is a profession discovered in Hopeforest. It is used to make wooden materials. Often these materials can be used in other professions, such as making weapons. It is based at the Carpenter's Workshop in south-southwest Hopeforest.

Gameplay Loop:

1. Chop logs and store them at the Lumber Bank in the Carpenters Workshop, or buy logs from Gwen's Lumber (west of Timberwell Green, north of Carpenter's Workshop). If you complete Spider's Nest (Requires Level 32 Carpenter), you will be able to store logs and other resources at Storage Rift Markers, making training easier.
2. Cut the logs at the Circular Saw at the south end of the workshop.
   1. If the logs have a final product, use them on the Lathe to the east of the circular saw. Both steps provide experience.
3. Sell finished products to the Timber Merchant east of the Lathe, or store them in the Timber Bank to the north of Timberwell Green.

Guide

Early Levels (0-18):

1. You will need 36 Silver for an Axe bought from Morauce the Hatchet Man outside Gwen's Lumber (west side of Timberwell Green).
2. Cut about 14 Ash Logs from the surrounding areas.
3. Take the 14 Ash Logs to the Circular Saw and cut them for Level 2.
4. Now you can train by purchasing logs from Gwen's Lumber.
   1. You will need about 20 Silver and an empty inventory to start buying logs.
5. Buy 12 logs at a time, then process them. If you have the Silver, you can save time by amassing a larger amount of logs at the Lumber Bank, then take out 12 logs at a time.
6. After reaching Level 2, create Coarse Oak Pole for the best Coins/XP.
7. Optional: Keep upgrading your logs every two levels for best XP
   1. Note: Skip logs like Juniper that don't have a final product to save money

Tips

• At lower levels, you can sustain your log purchasing costs by converting your knowledge into Silver. (But this is not encouraged).
• The following page can be used as a reference to calculate Carpenter EXP rates hourly.
• 32 Carpenter is 274,221 XP.

Active activities

Carpenter items made at the Circular Saw and Wood Lathe. Profit values assume that all logs are purchased from Gwen's Lumber and all produced potions are sold to the the Timber Merchant Shop. The hourly rates assume that for every inventory of 12 logs, 60 seconds is spent on buying new logs, moving between stations, and selling products. This allows for 307 planks or staves to be made per hour, or 195 posts per hour. Planks and Staves award a total 0.75% knowledge per log, and poles award a total 1.5%. These equate to 1.70 knowlege points per hour for planks or staves, or 2.93 knowledge points for poles.

Your own XP and profit rates may vary if you collect your own materials or spend separate time buying and depositing them.

Carpenter passive activities are of two types: passive recipes which use Branches to create items, and Furniture which does not use any items but only produces coins. Profit values for recipes assume that all branches are purchased from Gwen's Lumber and all products are sold to the the Timberwell Supplies.
