Welcome to the Brighter Shores Wiki User Help page. This page is here to offer a central location for those who are participating with the development of this wiki to make general requests for help. For admin help, click here.

Note for requesters - Once a solution has been presented and implemented, please add a comment signifying completion, if the request hasn't already been archived. This is to help other users know when to archive completed requests.

Instructions[edit source]

What this page is for[edit source]

  • Coding help. Requesting help with writing templates, making a nice user page, or any questions on writing wiki-code can be asked here and users will help to the best of their ability.
  • Requests for non-administrative actions. If help is required with an action (such as moving a page), asking users here for help with that action is acceptable.
  • Questions on how the wiki works. All the policies and processes in use on the Brighter Shores Wiki may seem a little overwhelming at first. If you need help in understanding any of the policies, or more in depth instructions on a process, asking here is a good start.
  • Other questions to the users of the wiki. While the Forum Grove is often a better place, a simple question may be asked here for a quick response.
  • An all-in-one place to put things. Many of the wiki's procedures are lesser-known, so putting a note here is a good way to do something if the correct procedure is not known.

What this page is not for[edit source]

  • Requests for actions involving administrator tools. Please use Admin requests for such requests.
  • Larger discussion with other users on policies or other wide-ranging actions. The Forum Grove is a more suitable location to discuss larger changes to the wiki's policies, procedures and high-use templates.
  • General chat (about Brighter Shores or not). General chat about Brighter Shores (or an off-topic subject) should be taken to individual user talk pages, or article talk pages when applicable.

Requests[edit source]

Item recipes with 3 materials.[edit source]

I was trying to update the recipe for Basic Raw Chicken and Leek Pie which requires 3 materials, but it only shows 2 on the page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by C Zachero (talk) on 20:30, 8 November 2024 (UTC).

Editing Item Drop Tables[edit source]

I am trying to add item values to the drop tables as I acquire them. However, when I try to edit the tables, I only see options to change the name and quantity. How do I find the location to change the value? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Berazy (talk) on 15:19, 9 November 2024 (UTC).

LocLine data not being pulled through[edit source]

Tried adding some new information to East Waterfront, e.g. the 'crate' item that is there, but it doesn't show in the 'Room Features' template. I have checked and the page for the item does use the LocLine template and it appears to be correct but not information is being pulled through by the features template.

I have checked some other pages, e.g. Vincible, and they appear to be having the same issue. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by The Gaffer (talk) on 21:06, 9 November 2024 (UTC).

light/dark theme[edit source]

can we get light mode and dark mode here sorry in advance of where to post if wrong —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Seda (talk) on 03:57, 14 November 2024 (UTC).

Dark mode has now been added. It can be enabled via the moon icon in the top right of the page.  BlackHawk (Talk)    13:20, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

Leatherworker needs Infobox Recipie template field addition to account for discounts.[edit source]

Leatherworker has two profits values, and the template can seemingly only produce one profit value. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tsuso (talk) on 02:04, 15 November 2024 (UTC).

Can we get a dark mode?[edit source]

Similar to the OSRS wiki, I think we need a dark mode, the only thing stopping me from being on the wiki 24/7 is the white background. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Venus Guardian (talk) on 23:45, 15 November 2024 (UTC).

Power/Value Table Update for Weapons Suggestion[edit source]

Hi, I'm hoping this is an okay place to post this:
Some of the info tables for weapons feel a little ambiguous when listing stats, and I wanted to offer suggestions to update the table template or see if anyone knows of a weapon page with a better table already?
Here is an example where the Power/Value lists just the Strength stat and Value, but leaves out a table for the proc chance for whichever element the weapon uses. Additionally, there aren't labels for the data points for these tables which can get confusing.
Here is a table that might work a little better, but I wanted to check with others before changing things up. Thoughts?

I found a weapon with a refined table I think works well.
Check it out here. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Captn Ezra (talk) on 18:17, 29 November 2024 (UTC).

Template:DropsLine and weapons/armor drops[edit source]

Can we get a column for "item level range" in 'Template:DropsLine', to be used for weapon/armor drops?

Related question: it seems redundant to list each and every possible weapon/armor drop for every monster and its variant, since these drops seem to be ubiquitous with no noticeable difference in drop behavior across monsters (besides item level). I have tried to succinctly represent this in the following page: https://brightershoreswiki.org/w/Faded_Wraith , by specifying "Weapons" and "Armor" as the drop items, rather than listing every existing weapon/armor in the game. It would be great if the DropsLine template helped support this (or similar solution), by allowing us to specify the item level range, and the average value, of not only a particular armor/weapon item, but "Weapons" and "Armor" drops in general. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Plav (talk) on 08:13, 13 December 2024 (UTC).

It is important to list each item individually on the pages so they're able to be queried by templates looking for item drop sources. Just listing "all weapons" or "all armor" isn't particularly accurate, especially considering items given by quests like Recruit's Sword, Rare Carthian Plumbatae, or any of the Guard gear that won't drop from enemies after you've picked a faction (so none of the enemies in ep3 or 4). However, how exactly to list them has been an ongoing discussion on the Discord. What we'll probably end up going with eventually is to create something like RSW's RDT Template which is a collapsed section listing all the shared drops, then on each enemy page all you'd have to do is include something like {{Shared drops|37-40}} and that would create a collapsed section for all the armor and weapons for all the factions, with levels 37-40. For now though, there's still data being collected first to make sure anything like that is accurate before it gets added to every individual enemy page (definitely don't want to have to add it to all the enemy pages, just to find out it has to be reverted on them all after and redone).
As for adding a level column to {{DropsLine}}, that template really needs to get converted into a module first as it's starting to get a bit unwieldy in just wikitext. And any kind of extra info added to DropsLine would also entail needing to add that data into Module:ItemSources table as well, meaning that data would need SMW properties set up. --Californ1a (talk) 09:09, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
Okay sounds, great! Just wanted to make sure there's awareness of this, and sounds like there is. Plav (talk) 13:45, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
