A Pine Tree is a type of Woodcutter Skill node located in Hopeforest. Harvesting a Pine Tree requires a Hatchet and yields a Pine Log. The quality of the log depends on the player's Woodcutter level, starting with Coarse Pine Log at level 4. Pine Branches of various tiers can also be lopped using Tree Loppers, costing 7 knowledge points, beginning at level 48 woodcutter.

Pine Trees take 3.5 seconds to fell with a hatchet, and have a 45 second respawn timer.

Strategy[edit | edit source]

Pine Tree Strategy, Red is the path between trees, Black is the path to deposit to the storage rift.

The most efficient place to fell Pine Trees is in the vicinity of the Stump Clearing, where there are 5 trees close to each other, and a storage rift.

The 5 trees shown in the picture are close enough together that all 5 may be chopped in sequence before they respawn. This path is marked in red, and a cycle takes takes 53 seconds, for 10.6 seconds per tree or 339 logs per hour. However after every 24 logs chopped the players inventory will be full, and the logs must dropped, sold, or banked.

Discarding the logs by dropping them on the floor is the fastest option, and can be done with practically no time loss. This maintains 339 logs per hour, at the cost of giving no items or coins.

Depositing the Pine logs in the Storage Rift in the nearby Huntsman's Path is the second fastest option. The path travels past aggressive Wendigos so it is recommended to use Fear potions to avoid being interrupted by them, which reduced the number of available inventory slots from 24 to 23. On every 5th cycle when only 3 trees need to be chopped, the Eastern trees in the Lumber Clearing are skipped to instead travel to and use the storage rift. This 5th cycle is actually the same cycle time of 53 seconds but gives only 3 logs, resulting in a total value of 312 logs per hour. This provides logs into the Lumber Bank, the most convenient location to use them for training Carpentry, saving money from buying those logs in the future from Gwen.

Selling the Pine logs as you chop them is not recommended, as is is a moderate distance to the shop where they may be sold, however after banking it is possible to make trips between the lumber bank and the shop to sell the logs. Players without access to the Storage Rift may run to Timberwell Green for either the the shop or the bank as they choose, however unlocking the rifts should be a priority for anyone intending to chop a considerable number of Pine Trees.
