A Polished Stone Shield is piece of Armor for the Hammermage faction. All enemies capable of dropping combat equipment have a chance to drop Polished Stone Shields, provided that the player has progressed through the main story to the point where they have chosen a Faction, as before this point only non-faction equipment can be received.
Polished Stone Shield is an armor worn in the shield slot.

Players who have chosen the Hammermage faction are able to receive Polished Stone Shields in Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Epic Rarity. Players who chose the Guardian or Cryoknight factions will receive Polished Stone Shields much less frequently, and only in Rare rarity, as these items are intended for other factions to use with the Infusion system to make Epic rarity shields for their own faction.

Polished Stone Shields are also able to be crafted by the Stonemason profession, at an item level up to the stonemason level of the crafter. Different level ranges of Polished Stone Shield require different variants of the materials, but they all require 5 Granite (Etched).

Combat Stats & Value
The visual appearance of a Polished Stone Shield is dependent only on its level. Polished Stone Shields crafted by the Stonemason profession use different variants of the materials for each different visual appearance of the Polished Stone Shield.

Combat Stats
Sell Price Approximation
As a piece of Armor, Polished Stone Shields have resistance stats for all 6 damage types. The total resistance of a Polished Stone Shield obeys a rigid formula with no variation:
The sell value (<math display="">P</math>) of a Polished Stone Shield can be approximated based on its level (<math display="">L</math>) using the following formula.

:<math>\text{Strength} = 6\times L + 90\times R + 10 </math>
Novice Tier (levels 0 - 19):

Where
<math display="">P(L) =
*<math>L</math> is the Item Level
\begin{cases}
*<math>R</math> is the Rarity, expressed as number of stars
\texttt{Floor\_sf3} \left[ 0.126 L^2 + 17.04 L + 291.8 \right] &&& \mbox{Common} \\
\texttt{Floor\_sf3} \left[ 0.307 L^2 + 43.23 L + 735.4 \right] &&& \mbox{Uncommon} \\
\texttt{Floor\_sf3} \left[ 1.26 L^2 + 172.5 L + 2940 \right] &&& \mbox{Rare} \\
??? &&& \mbox{Epic}
\end{cases}</math>

This total resistance is divided up between the 6 damage tpyes with some variation for each individual value. Since the shield is for the Hammermage faction, the Arborae resistance will be on average 20 points lower than that of the other damage types. see Armor for a more detailed explanation of how resistances are calculated.
Apprentice Tier (levels 20 - 49):

From this formula it can be seen that each increase in Rarity of a Polished Stone Shield is equivalent to 15 additional levels. Thus a Polished Stone Shield at level 0 Epic, at level 15 Rare, at level 30 Uncommon, or at level 45 Common will all have exactly the same total resistance of 370.
<math display="">P(L) =
\begin{cases}
\texttt{Floor\_sf3} \left[ 0.215 L^2 + 20.42 L + 430.8 \right] &&& \mbox{Common*} \\
\texttt{Floor\_sf3} \left[ 0.3375 L^2 + 37.95 L + 716 \right] &&& \mbox{Uncommon} \\
\texttt{Floor\_sf3} \left[ 0.932 L^2 + 174.946 L + 2551 \right] &&& \mbox{Rare*} \\
??? &&& \mbox{Epic}
\end{cases}</math>

The <math display="">\texttt{Floor\_sf3}</math> function denotes rounding the value down to 3 significant figures:

Notes:

# Asterisk denotes the formula provides an approximation, rather than an exact value (within 10 coins for Uncommon, and within 100 coins for Rare).
# There is a clear discontinuity in sell prices at level 20, coinciding with the beginning of the Apprentice tier. However, whether there is a similar discontinuity at the beginning of the Journeyman tier (level 50), Adept tier (level 100), or Expert tier (level 200) is not yet known.

Variants

The visual appearance of a Polished Stone Shield is dependent only on its level. Polished Stone Shields crafted by the Stonemason profession use different variants of the materials for each different visual appearance of the Polished Stone Shield.

Combat Stats

As a piece of Armor, Polished Stone Shields have resistance stats for all 6 damage types. The total resistance of a Polished Stone Shield obeys a rigid formula with no variation:

Strength=6×L+90×R+10

Where

 • L is the Item Level
 • R is the Rarity, expressed as number of stars

This total resistance is divided up between the 6 damage tpyes with some variation for each individual value. Since the shield is for the Hammermage faction, the Arborae resistance will be on average 20 points lower than that of the other damage types. see Armor for a more detailed explanation of how resistances are calculated.

A list of all different level and rarity combinations of Polished Stone Shields, including their sell values, can be found here:
