A Metal Kite Shield is piece of Armor for the Cryoknight faction. All enemies capable of dropping combat equipment have a chance to drop Metal Kite Shields, provided that the player has progressed through the main story to the point where they have chosen a Faction, as before this point only non-faction equipment can be received.

Players who have chosen the Cryoknight faction are able to receive Metal Kite Shields in Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Epic Rarity. Players who chose the Hammermage or Guardian factions will receive Metal Kite Shields much less frequently, and only in Rare rarity, as these items are intended for other factions to use with the Infusion system to make Epic rarity shields for their own faction.

Metal Kite Shields are also able to be crafted by the Blacksmith profession, at an item level up to the Blacksmith level of the crafter. Different level ranges of Metal Kite Shield require different variants of the materials, but they all require 5 Iron Ingots.

Variants

The visual appearance of a Metal Kite Shield is dependent only on its level. Metal Kite Shields crafted by the Blacksmith profession use different variants of the materials for each different visual appearance of the Metal Kite Shield.

Combat Stats

As a piece of Armor, Metal Kite Shields have resistance stats for all 6 damage types. The total resistance of a Metal Kite Shield obeys a rigid formula with no variation:

• $L$ is the Item Level
• $R$ is the Rarity, expressed as number of stars

This total resistance is divided up between the 6 damage tpyes with some variation for each individual value. Since the shield is for the Cryoknight faction, the Tempestae resistance will be on average 20 points lower than that of the other damage types. see Armor for a more detailed explanation of how resistances are calculated.

From this formula it can be seen that each increase in Rarity of a Metal Kite Shield is equivalent to 15 additional levels. Thus a Metal Kite Shield at level 0 Epic, at level 15 Rare, at level 30 Uncommon, or at level 45 Common will all have exactly the same total resistance of 370.
