We are Fen Research Ltd the designers and the creators of ‘Brighter Shores’, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game.

We are registered with the UK supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner’s Office (“ICO”) in relation to our processing of Personal Data, under registration number ZA050029.

The purpose of this privacy notice is to explain what Personal Data we collect about you and how we use it, when you browse our website(s), play Brighter Shores, or do both.

‘Personal Data’ is any information which someone can be identified from, such as your full name and your email address. It can also include less obvious information like an online username.

The information we may collect about you will vary depending on how you interact and engage with us.

When you play Brighter Shores it is likely to include the following:

We will process the ID provided to us by the service you use login to Brighter Shores.<br>

b) Device information<br>
We may collect some technical information from devices (e.g. computer, tablet or mobile). This might include your full IP address and other device identifiers.

c) Usage information<br>
We may collect information around how you use our game, such as activity logs, access times and in-game activities and purchases.

d) Communication information<br>
We process information about how you're communicating with other users in the game. If our system detects bullying, harassment or otherwise unsafe/unsuitable content, or you or another player sends an 'abuse report', or we receive a law enforcement request, we may further collect or monitor your communications. If you use the 'community' features of our game, we will process the list of other players you provide. For example the list of your friends.

Yes, your Personal Data is shared with our carefully selected third parties that help run the Brighter Shores game and/or our websites, you can find out more about these below:

Cloudflare - Cloudflare hosts our website, which means if you visit our website they will be able to see things such as your IP address and any other data they process as part of sending the website to you. AWS - Some of the servers and databases used to operate our game are hosted by Amazon Web Services. This means if you play our game, your Personal Data may be stored on or processed by servers which are part of Amazon Web Services. OVHcloud - Some of the servers used to operate our game may be hosted by OVHcloud. This means if you play our game, your Personal Data may be processed by servers which are part of OVHcloud. Steam - This is only applicable if you acquire or play our game via Steam. How to exercise your rights<br>
You will not usually need to pay a fee to exercise any of the above rights. However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unfounded or excessive. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with the request in such circumstances.

If you wish to exercise your rights, you may contact us using the details set out below within the section called 'How to contact us and our Data Protection Officer'. We may need to request specific information from you to confirm your identity before we can process your request. Once in receipt of this, we will process your request without undue delay and within one month. In some cases, such as with complex requests, it may take us longer than this and, if so, we will keep you updated.

Our in-game chat facility does utilise automated decision-making to block any offensive content, this is to try help keep you safe when playing Brighter Shores. If you have any questions about this, you can contact us using the details in the 'Contact Us' section.

We have put in place security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way. We make sure that only individuals or other organisations that need to handle your personal data, do so and where this happens we ensure they act only on our instructions. This means we know exactly what they’re doing with your personal data.

If we become aware of any loss, misuse, alteration of personal data we will work closely with our Data Protection Officer (and other people if needed) to investigate the incident quickly and effectively.

Please be aware when using our chat, that it is not designed for private conversations and other people may see it too. Please don't use it to discuss anything secret, {{Sic|peronsal}} or sensitive.

We will not keep Personal Data longer than is necessary, for the purpose or purposes for which they were collected. Fen Research will take all reasonable steps to destroy, or erase from its systems, all Personal Data which is no longer required. This does not apply to anonymised data.
