The Potent Potion Station is a type of Alchemist skill node found in the Apothecary. It is used to create potent Potions from Preparations and bottles.

Some potions beginning at level 35 have Potent in their name, and must be brewed using the Potent Potion Station which produces stronger potions at a slower rate. Like standard potions these are brewed from a preparation and a bottle, however the Potent Potion Station functions very differently. Four components of the station must be constantly managed, and only one potion is produced every 25 - 38 seconds. Potent potions exist for all of the same potion types as standard potions, and award Alchemist XP when the potent potion is created and 2.5% knowledge.

If the potent potion brewing process is not managed it can fail. In this situation, a lower variant standard potion is produced instead and no XP is awarded.

Potent potion brewing[edit | edit source]

A mini-event must be played to brew the potent potions, requiring management of the 4 component parts of the station.

When first interacting with the station, it takes 5 seconds for the system to set itself up. After that, one potent potion is produced every 25 to 38 seconds, compared to 7 seconds for a regular potion. If the player exits before 7 seconds the prepared materials will be returned. After 7 seconds if the player fails or exits they will lose the prepared materials and receive the highest level regular version potion but no experience.

Hopper[edit | edit source]

The Hopper is on the far left, and must be stocked with preparations. Up to 3 preparations may be loaded into the hopper, shown by the fill level of the green tube on the hopper and in the brewing interface below the station. If the hopper runs out of preparations, potent potion brewing stops.

Boiler[edit | edit source]

The Boiler is on the left, and the temperature that is indicated by the gauge above it must be managed. Interacting with the boiler will switch it between being on, which causes the temperature to rise, and being off, which causes the temperature to fall. It takes 25 seconds for the boiler to go from minimum temperature to maximum, or vice versa. When a temperature limit is reached, a yellow warning symbol appears, after 8 seconds it turns into a red warning symbol, and 5 seconds after that the brewing process fails. Interacting with the boiler to switch it on or off prevents failure.

Tank[edit | edit source]

The Tank is located on the right, and slowly builds pressure that is indicated by the red level on the front. Interacting with the tank releases all pressure down to the minimum. It takes 25 seconds for the pressure to reach maximum after being released, then a yellow warning symbol appears, after 8 seconds it turns into a red warning symbol, and 5 seconds after that the brewing process fails. Interacting with the Tank to release the pressure prevents failure.

Cauldron[edit | edit source]

The Cauldron is located on the far right. It takes 25 seconds for the Cauldron to fill up to the level line, at which point it can be drained to produce one potent potion and removes one preparation from the hopper if there are any left. If the cauldron is late to be interacted with, then that is a delay to producing the potent potion. When the level is reached a yellow warning symbol appears, after 8 seconds it turns into a red warning symbol, and 5 seconds after that the brewing process fails. Interacting with the Cauldron to produce a potion prevents failure.

Efficient operation[edit | edit source]

All 4 of the component parts of the potent potion station operate on the same 25 second cycle, so the most efficient operation synchronises these cycles to minimise moving between components and avoid delaying producing the potions:

  1. Interact with the potent potion station with an inventory of preparations to start the process
  2. Interact with the hopper
  3. Interact with the boiler
  4. Interact with the tank
  5. Stand in front of cauldron, and wait for it to reach the level line
  6. Interact with the caudron to produce a potent potion
  7. Repeat steps 2-6 until all potions have been produced. Step 2 may be skipped once all preparations have been loaded into the station.

This process produces one potent potion every 25 seconds, which is the minimum time possible.
