Alchemist is a profession in episode one, Hopeport. Alchemy is used to make Potions with a variety of beneficial effects from different reagents, which are obtained from the Forager, Gatherer, Miner, and Merchant professions. Players are also able to buy any reagent which they have the alchemy level to use from from the Reagent Vendor, located in Hopeport Town Square. Brewing potions also requires Bottles, which can be purchased from Ebsworth in the Apothecary for 20 .
Alchemy activities[edit | edit source]
The profession is trained inside the Apothecary off of Stone Street, southeast near the Hopeport Teleport stone. There are 5 different activities that can be used to train the profession.
Reagent Preparation[edit | edit source]
Each potion (with the exception of the 10% potion healing) use two reagents. These are taken to the Reagent Preparation Station where they are combined into a Preparation, ready to be made into a potion. Reagents may be stored in the Potion Reagents Bank but preparations may not be. Each preparation takes 5.0 seconds to make and awards alchemy XP.
Each reagent can only be used to make one type of preparation, so reagents do not need to be saved up to make better potions later. The sole exception to this is Brown Kelp, which is used to make both the 10% Potion Healing and the 20% Potion Healing, with the latter also requiring Creamy Wallplant. To avoid accidentally making a 10% potion when intending to make a 20% potion, players should select the wallplant from the preparation station interface.
Standard Potion brewing[edit | edit source]
Most potions are brewed at the Standard Potion Station from the relevant preparation and one bottle, which produces 1 potion every 6.5 seconds and awards alchemy XP.The produced potions may be stored in the Potions Bank. Standard potions types include Healing, XP for each Episode, Elemental strength (Arborae, Cryonae, Tempestae), and Fear.
Potent Potion brewing[edit | edit source]
Some potions are brewed using the Potent Potion Station, which produces stronger potions at a slower rate. Like standard potions these are brewed from a preparation and a bottle, however the Potent Potion Station funcitons very differently. Four components of the station must be constantly managed, and only one potion is produced every 25 - 30 seconds. Potent potions exist for all of the same potion types as standard potions, and award alchemy xp when the potent potion is created.
If the potent potion brewing process is not managed it can fail. In this situation, a lower variant standard potion is produced instead and no xp is awarded.
Ebsworth Work[edit | edit source]
A type of Passive activity performed at the Reagent Preparation Station. Ebsworth Work requires no reagents, produces no potions, and awards both alchemy XP and coins every 20 seconds.
Passive Potion brewing[edit | edit source]
Passive potions are brewed at the Passive Potion Station, which itself is a Passive activity. Passive Potions do not require preparations, and are made directly from reagents that are themselves gathered from passive activities, at a rate of 0.005 items every 20 seconds, for a total of 0.9 items per hour. Passive potions provide benefits to passive activities, and passive potion types include Wealth, XP for each Episode, Forensics, and Boost.
Active Potions[edit | edit source]
Standard potions and Potent potions that are produced actively from reagents that are mixed into preaparations, and then brewed. Potent potions award approximately double the XP of a standard potion of a similar level, however they are produced 4 times slower.
Passive activities[edit | edit source]
Ebbsworth work and Passive potions both perform one action every 20 seconds. Passive reagents are used and passive potions are produced at a rate of 0.9 per hour.
Capes of accomplishment[edit | edit source]
Alchemist Capes are unlocked by achieving various milestones in leveling of the Alchemist profession and can be purchased from Daguer at The Cloakroom located in Hopeport.
