- Choose option
- Corporal Binns: So Captain Degreene is scraping the bottom of the barrel for new recruits? Okay whelp, head to the quartermaster in this building here, and collect your standard issue gear.
- Corporal Binns: Then you need to learn some guard magic. Talk to Anjay to the west. He's Hopeport's magic supressor. Tell him you need guard's access to use magic.
- Corporal Binns: Once you've done all that, report back to me.
- Choose option
- Corporal Binns: You need to get geared up. Head to the quartermaster in the building to the southeast of this training ground.
Talking to Captain Degreene at this point[edit source]
- Captain Jal Degreene: I'm sure you don't need to disturb me right now. Corporal Binns will tell you what you need to do.
Talking to Quartermaster[edit source]
- Quartermaster: Ello mate. What can I do for you?
- Choose option

- Quartermaster: Okay this sword is standard issue for new recruits. Please look after it.

- Player receives Recruit's sword.
- (If the player has not yet spoken to Anjay:)
- Quartermaster: You should talk to Anjay to get your magic access.
- (If the player has spoken to Anjay but not learned guard's magic from Sultar:)
- Quartermaster: Next you should finish learning your guard's magic.
- (If the player already learned guard's magic from Sultar:)
- Quartermaster: You should check in with Corporal Binns.
(Non-quest dialogue) Do we need four of you to make a whole master?
(Only after speaking to Anjay:) Can you teach me magic?
(Non-quest dialogue) I'm just looking around.

Learning guard's magic[edit source]

- Anjay Sandorman: I sense that you wish to talk to me.

- Corporal Binns: You need to finish learning your guard's magic.
Talking to Sultar Malzak[edit source]

- Sultar Malzak: Many greetings to you. I am Sultar Malzak the eminent mage of the Hopeport guard.
- Choose option
They told me you were full of yourself.

- Sultar Malzak: Don't you pay any attention to him. He's just jealous of my magnificence.

- Sultar Malzak: Visit the portal stone to the northwest, and reach for the magic within.

Upon speaking to Corporal Binns, after getting both the guard's equipment and magic[edit source]
The screen fades out and back in. Camera pans towards the guards.
- Guard: The alarm!
Camera pans towards Captain Jal Degreene.
- Captain Jal Degreene: Goblin attack! To arms.
Camera pans towards Robyn Nockright.
- Robyn Nockright: Squad one. Move out!
Camera pans towards Sultar Malzak.
- Sultar Malzak: Squad four. Move out!
Camera returns to Corporal Binns and the player.
- Corporal Binns: Look lively recruit. A mob of goblins has breached the walls. We need all hands to help defend the town.
- Corporal Binns: Fetch the other recruits, Jermais, Delana and Toblaine, and meet me here at the garrison gate.
- Choose option
Sir, yes sir.
No problem, Binnsy.
- Player: No problem Binnsy.
- Corporal Binns: Recruit, address me as Sir, not Binnsy. Do I make myself clear?
- Corporal Binns: Now hurry up and fetch those others.
Talking to Corporal Binns[edit source]
- Corporal Binns: No sign of your fellow recruits yet. Hurry up and send Jermais, Delana and Toblaine this way.
- Corporal Binns: They should either be on this training ground or the Barracks to the northeast.
Gathering the other recruits[edit source]
- Delana: Isn't it great to be a guard. Everyone will respect us in our natty uniforms.

Goblins are invading. Head to the barracks gates.
- Player: Goblins are invading. Binnsy needs us all to head to the garrison gate.
- Delana: Oh dear. I'm expected to fight? But I've mislaid my bow.

(Non-quest dialogue) Not everyone. The criminals won't like us.
(Non-quest dialogue) I joined for the adventure, not the fashion.

- Player: Did you happen to pick up Delana's bow.
- Jermais: Are you calling me a thief? The nerve. Why I'll box your ears.
- Player: No, no, I'm not accusing you of anything. Just looking for her bow.
- Jermais: Well, I ain't got it. If she's lost it, it's her fault for leaving it somewhere stupid.
- (Shows the previous options.)
(Non-quest dialogue) Goodbye.
- You find a bow down the back of the bed.
- Player receives Delana's bow.

- Delana: I don't suppose you've found my bow yet?

- Toblaine: Goblins? Er. They sound kinda scary. I think I'll stay here.

- Corporal Binns: Tell Toblaine to get his lily-livered behind moving.

- Corporal Binns: Get Delana over here pronto.

- Corporal Binns: Player! You need to equip your sword before we get moving!
After gathering the recruits, with a sword equipped[edit source]
Screen fades in and out, showing the player queued up behind Delana, Jermais and Toblaine facing Corporal Binns.
- Corporal Binns: At last you're all here. If you lot were any slower, the goblins would have died of old age.
- Jermais: Ooh. If we could kill them that way, we could wait safely in here until they keel over.
- Corporal Binns: I'll pretend I didn't hear that. Okay, recruits, Through[sic] those gates.
Camera pans to the gates opening. Corporal Binns and the recruits run through the gates.
