Captain Degreene's Office
Talking to Captain Jal Degreene
- Player: Ma'am...
- Captain Jal Degreene: A moment please Player, I just need to deal with this... civilian.
- Naybeth the Philosopher: Jal Degreene, do not try to brush me off. This is important.
- Captain Jal Degreene: We're off our feet dealing with intangible problems. I don't have time for your theoretical ramblings about Vilzax.
- Naybeth the Philosopher: Ramblings? Our tangible problems are omens, a direct result of the spread of Vilzax.

What do you know of Vilzax?
- Player: What do you know of Vilzax?
- Naybeth the Philosopher: Vilzax is a dark magic of an ancient civilization. For long it has been subdued, but now we bear witness to new omens.

My mission in the mine was successful.
- Player: My mission in the mine was successful. I found the missing squad of guards and another evil crystal.
- Player: The crystal mutated the guards into vicious monsters. I was forced to kill them, before diffusing the crystal.
- Player: Then I discovered who placed the crystal. A strange sorcerer in red robes, with a golden bull headpiece.
- Naybeth the Philosopher: A golden bull headpiece? You've confirmed my suspicions. Agents of Vilzax are behind our problems.
- Captain Jal Degreene: Not more of your Vilzax talk.
- Naybeth the Philosopher: Player please come with me to inform Lord Brannof of this latest development. We must act before all is lost.

What do you mean by omens?
- Player: What do you mean by omens?
- Naybeth the Philosopher: There are ancient magics spread throughout this world.
- Player: I'm familiar with that fact. Arborae, Cryonae, Tempestae etc.
- Naybeth the Philosopher: In ancient times there was a magic known as Vilzax. Only through the combined efforts of other factions was it subdued.
- Naybeth the Philosopher: For centuries Vilzax has been dormant, but when certain omens occur, they can drive a particular magic type into ascendancy.
- Naybeth the Philosopher: The storm over the sea is an omen of Vilzax. The sudden aggression of the goblins is an omen of Vilzax. The giant newts appearing in the river are an omen.
- Naybeth the Philosopher: Left unchecked, an ascendant magic can change the very nature of the world, which is disastrous if that magic is Vilzax.
