Polished Bone Torso is a piece of Armor for the Guardian faction, worn in the torso slot. All enemies capable of dropping combat equipment have a chance to drop a Polished Bone Torso after the player has progressed through the main story to the point where they have chosen a Faction. Before this point, only non-faction equipment can be received.

Players who have chosen the Guardian faction can receive a Polished Bone Torso in Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Epic Rarity. Players who chose the Hammermage or Cryoknight factions will receive Polished Bone Torso much less frequently, and only in Rare rarity, as these items are intended for other factions to use with the Infusion system to make Epic rarity armor for their faction.

Polished Bone Torsos can also be crafted by the Armorer profession, at an item level up to the Armorer level of the crafter.

Variants

The visual appearance of a Polished Bone Torso is dependent on its level. Polished Bone Torsos crafted by the Armorer profession use different variants of the materials for each different visual appearance of the Polished Bone Torso.

Combat Stats

As a piece of Armor, Polished Bone Torsos have resistance stats for all 6 damage types. The total resistance of an Polished Bone Torso obeys a rigid formula with no variation:

• $L$ is the Item Level
• $R$ is the Rarity, expressed as a number of stars

This total resistance is divided up between the 6 damage types with some variation for each individual value. Since the armor is for the Guardian faction, the Cryonae resistance will be on average 20 points lower than the other damage types. See Armor for a more detailed explanation of how resistances are calculated.

From this formula, it can be seen that each increase in Rarity of a Polished Bone Torso is equivalent to 15 additional levels. Thus a Polished Bone Torso at level 0 Epic, at level 15 Rare, at level 30 Uncommon, or at level 45 Common will all have exactly the same total resistance of 370.
