A '''Wooden Square Shield''' is piece of [[Armor]] for the [[Guardian]] faction. All enemies capable of dropping combat equipment have a chance to drop Wooden Square Shields, provided that the player has progressed through the main story to the point where they have chosen a [[Faction]], as before this point only non-faction equipment can be received.

Players who have chosen the Guardian faction are able to receive [[Rarity|{{Common}}, {{Uncommon}}, {{Rare}}, or {{Epic}}]] Wooden Square Shields. Players who chose the [[Hammermage]] or [[Cryoknight]] factions will only receive {{Rare}} Wooden Square Shields at a reduced frequency, as these items are intended for other factions to [[Infusion|infuse]] into {{Epic}} shields for their own faction.

Wooden Square Shields are also able to be crafted by [[Bonewright|Bonewrights]], at an item level up to the Bonewright level of the crafter. Different level ranges of Wooden Square Shield require different variants of the materials, but they all require 3 [[Rams Horn (Brewed)]] and 3 [[Ash Plank|Ash Planks]].

The visual appearance of a Wooden Square Shield is dependent only on its level. Crafted Wooden Square Shields use different variants of the materials for each change in visual appearance.

==Combat Stats==
As a piece of Armor, Wooden Square Shields have resistance stats for all 6 damage types. The total resistance of a Wooden Square Shield obeys a rigid formula with no variation:

This total resistance is divided up between the 6 damage types with some variation for each individual value. Since the shield is for the Guardian faction, the [[File:Cryonae damage icon.png|18px]] Cryonae resistance will be on average 20 points lower than that of the other damage types. See [[Armor]] for a more detailed explanation of how resistances are calculated.

From this formula it can be seen that each increase in Rarity of a Wooden Square Shield is equivalent to 15 additional levels. Thus a Wooden Square Shield at level 0 {{Epic}}, at level 15 {{Rare}}, at level 30 {{Uncommon}}, or at level 45 {{Common}} will all have exactly the same total resistance of '''370'''.
