A '''Wooden Square Shield''' is piece of [[Armor]] for the [[Guardian]] faction. All enemies capable of dropping combat equipment have a chance to drop Wooden Square Shields, provided that the player has progressed through the main story to the point where they have chosen a [[Faction]], as before this point only non-faction equipment can be received.

Players who have chosen the Guardian faction are able to receive Wooden Square Shields in {{Common}}, {{Uncommon}}, {{Rare}}, or {{Epic}} [[Rarity]]. Players who chose the [[Hammermage]] or [[Cryoknight]] factions will receive Wooden Square Shields much less frequently, and only in {{Rare}} rarity, as these items are intended for other factions to use with the [[Infusion]] system to make {{Epic}} rarity shields for their own faction.

Wooden Square Shields are also able to be crafted by the [[Bonewright]] profession, at an item level up to the Bonewright level of the crafter. Different level ranges of Wooden Square Shield require different variants of the materials, but they all require 3 [[Rams Horn (Brewed)]] and 3 [[Ash Plank]]s.

==Variants==
The visual appearance of a Wooden Square Shield is dependent only on its level. Wooden Square Shields crafted by the Bonewright profession use different variants of the materials for each different visual appearance of the Wooden Square Shield.

==Combat Stats==
As a piece of Armor, Wooden Square Shields have resistance stats for all 6 damage types. The total resistance of a Wooden Square Shield obeys a rigid formula with no variation:

This total resistance is divided up between the 6 damage types with some variation for each individual value. Since the shield is for the Guardian faction, the [[File:Cryonae damage icon.png|18px]] Cryonae resistance will be on average 20 points lower than that of the other damage types. See [[Armor]] for a more detailed explanation of how resistances are calculated.

From this formula it can be seen that each increase in Rarity of a Wooden Square Shield is equivalent to 15 additional levels. Thus a Wooden Square Shield at level 0 {{Epic}}, at level 15 {{Rare}}, at level 30 {{Uncommon}}, or at level 45 {{Common}} will all have exactly the same total resistance of '''370'''.
