Talking to Corporal Binns[edit source]

Only on the first time[edit source]

  • Corporal Binns: The captain wants me to commend you on a good job out there. So, yeah. Well done.
  • Corporal Binns: However, what I saw out there was a lot of insolence and insubordination. You're due some push-ups. On the floor and do ten.
  • The player starts doing push-ups. At four, the screen fades out and back in. Squad three returns.
  • Guard: Squad three returning!
  • Corporal Binns: Hey Ingrina. What news?
  • Ingrina Pelegrin: That's ma'am to you corporal!
  • Corporal Binns: Sorry ma'am. I thought we were closer than that.
  • Ingrina Pelegrin: Not while we're on duty corporal.
  • Ingrina Pelegrin: Anyway you wanted news. We've just got back from Timberwell Village. Routed a bunch of goblins from there.
  • Ingrina Pelegrin: The world is getting a more dangerous place.
  • Corporal Binns: Talking of danger. We have new recruits, such as Player here, in need of learning the immunity spell.
  • Ingrina Pelegrin: Sure. I can teach that. This spell prevents enemies from attacking you for a short while, though the spell will expire if you initiate an attack.
  • Ingrina Pelegrin: You can use it during combat, if you need to retreat.
  • Ingrina teaches the player the spell Immunity.
  • (Shown in a pop-up:)
    • New spell learnt: Immunity
    • (Continues below.)
  • Ingrina Pelegrin: Speak to you later corporal.

After Ingrina leaves[edit source]

  • Corporal Binns: My next job will be to take you on a training drill in the forest, but you need a little more training before it is safe for you to go into the forest.
  • Corporal Binns: I need you to complete your bow training with Robyn, who is standing over there by the archery targets.
  • Corporal Binns: I also need you to train your total level to at level 60
  • Choose option
    • Do you have any suggestions on how to train myself?
      • Player: Do you have any suggestions on how to train myself?
      • Corporal Binns: The guard profession itself is mostly about combat experience.
      • Corporal Binns: However it is not just the guard profession I want you to train in.
      • Corporal Binns: For example to professions of a chef, forager, fisherman and alchemist all include useful things which are useful for a guard to learn.
      • Corporal Binns: Also, Commander Hackett can often use a hand at the town gates.
      • Corporal Binns: I'd hoped you'd use your initiative and search for opportunities.
      • Choose option
        • Tell me about the Guard profession.
          • Player: Tell me about the Guard profession.
          • Corporal Binns: There's a sparring area through that exit to the west of the training ground, so you could train with the recruits in there.
          • Corporal Binns: Once you feel you have learnt enough from sparring, then next cleaning up some of the hostiles in and around the town would be of great service.
          • Corporal Binns: However I wouldn't recommend taking on the ghouls in the wasteland until you have a higher guard level, better equipment, and maybe some healing potions.
          • (Shows the previous options.)
        • Tell me about the Chef profession.
          • Player: Tell me about the Chef profession.
          • Corporal Binns: Your best bet would be to talk to the head chef at the Delectable Dab.
          • (Shows the previous options.)
        • Tell me about the Forager profession.
          • Player: Tell me about the Forager profession.
          • Corporal Binns: A good forager can find useful things, even in the most unexpected places.
          • Corporal Binns: You already did a bit of foraging when you went to collect that kelp for the healing potion.
          • Corporal Binns: Kelp is useful when you want to make your own healing potions, and I'm sure if you search around you will find other things you can forage too.
          • (Shows the previous options.)
        • Tell me about the Fisherman profession.
          • Player: Tell me about the Fisherman profession.
          • Corporal Binns: First you will need to buy a fishing spear from Melv's Fishing Supplies.
          • Corporal Binns: The easiest fish to catch are by the beach, near where you got that kelp in fact.
          • Corporal Binns: And after that there are plenty of other fish you can catch.
          • (Shows the previous options.)
        • Tell me about the Alchemist profession.
          • Player: Tell me about the Alchemist profession.
          • Corporal Binns: You already saw firsthand how vital the right potions are to guards, when you made that healing potion for Captain Degreene.
          • Corporal Binns: You can practice by making more healing potions, or check out the recipe book at the Apothecary shop to see what other potions you can make.
          • (Shows the previous options.)
        • Tell me about Commander Hackett.
          • Player: Tell me about Commander Hackett.
          • Corporal Binns: Commander Hackett is in charge of squad three. They are currently guarding Hopeport's East gates.
          • Corporal Binns: Hackett has been complaining he is short handed. So he might have something useful for you to do.
          • (Shows the previous options.)
        • I'll start training then, sir.
          • Player: I'll start training then, sir.
        • I'll start training then. Catch you later Binnsy.
          • Player: I'll start training then. Catch you later Binnsy.
          • Corporal Binns: Do not address me as Binnsy. Address me as Sir.
    • I'll get right on it.
      • Player: I'll get right on it.
