Choosing a faction is required to advance beyond level 50 in combat ([[Guard]] or [[Scout]]). Attempting to earn XP causes the messages "To advance beyond [Guard/Scout] level 50 you must choose a faction." and "Progress further in the main quest." to appear and knowledge cannot be spent on it. XP earned from quests is not lost.<ref>[[Game updates/2024-11-18]]</ref>
