Each potion (with the exception of the 10% potion healing) use two reagents. These are taken to the [[Reagent Preparation Station]] where they are combined into a [[Preparation]], ready to be made into a potion. Reagents may be stored in the [[Potion Reagents Bank]] but preparations may not be. Each preparation takes 5.0 seconds to make and awards alchemy XP.

Each reagent can only be used to make one type of preparation, so reagents do not need to be saved up to make better potions later. The sole exception to this is [[Brown Kelp]], which is used to make both the [[10% Potion Healing]] and the [[20% Potion Healing]], with the latter also requiring [[Creamy Wallplant]]. To avoid accidentally making a 10% potion when intending to make a 20% potion, players should select the wallplant from the preparation station interface.
