Rarity is an attribute of weapons and armor. Increased rarity deals more damage or provides more deflection.
Each additional star of rarity is equivalent to 15 levels in terms of stats. As such, a level 0 Epic item has stats approximately equivalent to the same level 45 Common item, and a level 500 Epic item has a Common item level of 545.
