The quest Welcome to the Guard is part of the main story. It is started by talking to Captain Jal Degreene.

Walkthrough

• Captain Jal Degreene has told me to begin my guard training by speaking to Corporal Binns at the Training Ground.
• Corporal Binns has ordered me to:
  • Get a sword from the Quartermaster.
  • Learn some guards' magic.
    • Talk to Anjay Sandorman in the Training Ground to be allowed to use magic in Hopeport.
    • I could now use magic in Hopeport - if I knew any. I am talking to Sultar Malzak in the Training Ground about this.

Then report back to Corporal Binns in the Training Ground.

• The guard bell rung as there is a goblin attack: Corporal Binns wants you to gather the other recruits.
  • Talk to Delana - She can be found north east of the training grounds, in front of the barracks.
    • Get her bow: Enter the Barracks and search the north-east blue bed for the bow. It is the only bed with a Search option.
    • Talk to Delana again and give her bow back to her.
  • Talk to Jermais: He can be found within the Barracks.
  • Talk to Toblaine: He can be found within the Barracks next to Jermais. You will need to convince him to come with you.
• Equip your Recruit's sword.
• Talk to Corporal Binns.
• Walk to Stone Street.
• Fight off the goblins marked with a crosshair.
• Talk to Marcus Mint.
  • Take the Crate next to him
  • Follow him to Town Square and talk to him.
  • Put the crate on the cart.
• Head back to Stone Street and talk to Corporal Binns
• Captain Jal Degreene has been injured: Help heal him
  • Head into the Apothecary and talk to Ebsworth
  • Head back out to Stone Street and talk to Ebsworth
  • Go to East Beach and get some Brown Kelp
    • Head South twice until you reach Eel Street Bridge
    • Fight off the 2 goblins on that bridge
    • Head South twice then West to West Waterfront
    • Fight off the 2 goblins on that location
    • Head West to Sea Road then south to East Beach
    • Discover the Brown Kelp and Forage] it
  • Head back to Stone Street] and talk to Ebsworth
  • Help prepare a potion
    • Head into the Apothecary
    • Use the Brown Kelp you acquired with the Reagent Preparation Station to get a 10% Preparation Healing
    • Go back outside on Stone Street and talk to Ebsworth
    • Go back inside the Apothecary and use the Standard Potion Station] to get a 10% Potion Healing]
    • Go back outside on Stone Street and talk to Captain Jal Degreene
• Go back north to the Training Ground and talk to Corporal Binns
