Rarity is an attribute of weapons and armor. Increased rarity deals more damage or mitigation.
Each additional star of rarity is equivalent to 15 levels in terms of the stats on the items. As such, an item with Epic rarity at level 0 has stats approximately equivalent to the same item with Common rarity at level 45.
