The total resistances for an item is calculated with the formula:
The total resistances for an item is calculated with the formula

:<math>\text{Total Resistances} = 30 + 90\times R + 6\times L - F </math>
:<math>\text{Total Resistances} = B + L6</math>
Where <math>R</math> is the number of stars in the Rarity, <math>L</math> is the Item Level, and <math>F</math>is the Faction penalty.
Where <math>B</math> is the Base Level and <math>L</math> is the Item Level

===Base Levels===
Before the player has picked a faction, "Guard" armor will drop which has a faction penalty of zero.

Base level depends on the [[Rarity]] and [[Factions|Faction]] of an item.
Once a faction has been chosen, faction-specific armour drops which has a faction penalty of 20, which is removed from the resistance stat of the faction's weakness.

"Guard" armor drops before you have picked a faction.
Therefore the average resistance for any one damage type is:

{| class="wikitable"
:<math>\text{Average Resistances} = 5 + 15\times R + L </math>
|-
With the faction weakness style having an average that is 20 less than the other styles.
! Rarity !! Guard
!Faction
|-
| Common || 120
|100
|-
| Uncommon || 210
|190
|-
| Rare || 300
|280
|-
| Epic || 390
|370
|}
Each additional star of rarity adds 90 total resistance, which is equivalent to 15 levels. As such, an Epic item at level 0 has stats approximately equivalent to a Common item at level 45.

Faction armor has 20 lower total resistance than Guard armour, which is usually removed from the resistance stat of the faction's weakness.
Each additional star of rarity is equivalent to 15 levels. As such, an item at Epic rarity (4 stars) and level 0 has stats approximately equivalent to the same item at Common rarity (1 star) and level 45.

===Stat Ranges===
===Stat Ranges===

Stat ranges differ with item level and rarity.
The total resistance of an item is determined by its level, faction, and rarity, however the individual resistance values for the 6 damage types vary within a range.
