During the 2024 Christmas event, players can collect up to 20 unique hats while doing active activities that reward [[knowledge]].
Passive activities do not reward knowledge, and thus no Christmas hats.{{CiteTwitter|url=https://twitter.com/AndrewCGower/status/1866488834814562448|author=Andrew Gower|date=10 December 2024}} The type of hat is random and does not reflect anything in particular about the player or the activity they are performing. For example, it is also possible to receive a duplicate hat, which can be swapped with another player. An infinite amount of multiples of each hat can be collected. The event will end in early January 2025, after which it will no longer be possible to collect the Christmas 2024 hats.
Collected hats are stored in a specific transmog inventory and do not use a player's normal inventory or banking slots. They offer no stat bonuses and are purely cosmetic, able to be applied over the player's head slot using the [[transmog]] system. The [[transmog]] system was first released together with this event.
